Lost in the 'Burbs is the website of Kurt Aper.
I maintain this website primarily as a means of sharing photos and video with friends and family, most of which live far away from us.
I
was born in 1964 in
Klamath Falls, Oregon where I resided until the age of 19 when I moved to
the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. While in Klamath Falls, I attended
Mazama High
School and graduated along with the class of 1982. Afterward, I
attended Oregon Institute of
Technology where I graduated with a degree in Land Surveying.
I presently work for Henderson and Bodwell Consulting Engineers. I am a registered Illinois Land Surveyor and the computer network administrator for the company.
My youth was spent hiking the Oregon Cascades and climbing the volcanoes that accent the Cascade range through Washington, Oregon and northern California. This interest remains with me to this day. I still return to Oregon and the Pacific Northwest in the summers to climb the volcanoes that inspired me as a teen.
My family and I now resided in Naperville, Illinois after moving there from Carol Stream, Illinois in August of 2005. Even though I have now lived in the Chicago area for longer than I lived in the Pacific Northwest, Oregon is still home to me. I guess there's never anyplace as endearing as the place where you were born and raised.
I have been married since 1983 to Tori (Ingram) Aper. We have two kids, both girls and now teenagers.
Our oldest daughter, Megan, or "Meg" as her friends know her, is currently a sophomore at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville. Meg is an amazing writer and is currently working in conjunction with one of her closest friends on a book that they plan on publishing one day. She is also a talented artist and has the ability to work in many medias. She has also combined her eye for art with her expertise in Photoshop to create some stunning artwork.
My youngest daughter Cameron, is a freshman, also at Neuqua Valley High School. Cam's primary activity is baton twirling. She picked this sport up when she was about 9 years old and never looked back. Baton twirling has become a huge part of her life and she is a member of the Silver Knights Baton Corps. Outside of school, this is where she has met her best friends. She also twirlers at school, during the pre-game show at home football games and is Neuqua Valley's first baton twirler.
